May 2014 Family Feud Tournament

Say good bye to Team DDS and say hello to Team TDS!  They are the May 2014 Champions of the Metro Card Club Davao Family Feud Tournament.  Well, Team TDS used to be Team DDS just with a new name, an even greater fighting spirit, and a new import, 2 time Poker Face champion Edelmar "Buboy" Tamara.  Led by popular cash and tournament player Bong Tan, Team TDS played a solid game from start to finish, managing to enter the semi-finals with four seats.
Team TDS

The Family Feud Tournament for May started at 4 o'clock in the afternoon with a buy in of Php 2,750 per team. Ten teams comprised of old and new MCCD grinders and patrons competed for the Php 25,000.00 pot. MCCD was also excited to see a new team Raw Russian Samal Citizens, that was there to join the tournament. As always, the tournament was very exciting and tough since it requires team effort to win the pot having this as the tournament structure:

A. SHOOTOUT LEVEL
- Team swap is available anytime and as often as the team desires as long as the player finishes the hand they are in.

B. FINAL LEVEL
- A must swap system every two levels. Each team is required to swap players after every two levels depending on the team or team captain's choice. This is to encourage teams to have all team members play during the finals. It is not compulsory however to require all members to play in the finals. Depending on each of the team's strategy, each team can choose to have two or more swapping team mates to play during the finals.

"Call the whole team" was a lifeline available once every two levels during the finals.

The victory of the team depends on all the team members  Their initial goal is to get as many seats to the finals that will give them bigger chances of winning the pot. Like the previous Family Feud Tournaments, players were tight and were carefully managing their stacks.

Team Ryan vs Team TDS

Everybody was cheering for Team Ryan because it was the first time in this year's Family Feud Tournament that a woman is playing the heads up in the Final Table. All eyes were on the Final Table when chip leader Kokay Hernando of Team Ryan bullied Ian of Team TDS who went all in with her pockets of 4s versus Ian's Pocket Jacks. The board showed 9, 8,8,2 and another 8 making Ian the new chip leader having a full house of 8s and Jacks. With blinds at 8,000/16,000. Kokay went all-in again (A,K offsuit) who challenged Ian with Pocket of 8. The flop came 9, 10, 3, turn went 2 of spades and  river, 7 of diamonds. Team TDS got a Pair on Board leading to their second time Family Feud Championship!
